Sofuoglu Fastest As Cluzel Hits Back

Reigning champion takes back the top spot in WorldSSP FP1

Puccetti rider Kenan Sofuoglu saw his rookie teammate Randy Krummenacher put in the fastest lap yesterday in WorldSSP testing, but Day 2 has seen the Turkish reigning Champion take back P1 in the first session, with rival Jules Cluzel leap frogging up the order into P2 as he gets back on track after a big crash in Jerez last year. Three different manufacturers were the Top 3 of the session, with German rider Kevin Wahr putting in a time on his Honda good enough for P3.

Although times remained slightly slower than those set yesterday, it was Sofuoglu who made the most of the more consistent, better weather to set the quickest lap. After the start of the session was delayed due to an incident at the end of the pervious WorldSBK session, there were a number of further red flag incidents in WorldSSP including Stefan Hill crashing heavily and being taken to the Medical Center for a check-up.

Swiss rider Krummenacher, who makes the switch from Moto2 to WorldSSP this year, impressed yesterday by taking on 4-time WorldSSP Champion Sofuoglu’s impressive lap time and beating it. He remains the man to have set the quickest WorldSSP lap on the combined timesheets so far, with one more WorldSSP session set to get underway in the afternoon; the final chance to test before the first round of the season gets underway.
